Anthropic launches free AI security scans for open-source projects

Anthropic launched OSS Scanner, a free service using Claude Mythos to periodically scan open-source projects for vulnerabilities, but the fully model-generated reports lack human review, risking inaccuracies. This adds to the burden on maintainers like Linus Torvalds, who already struggle with AI-generated bug reports following discoveries like the 'Copy Fail' bug.

Don’t give AI agents root. Make them propose the next system state.

This article discusses a safety pattern for AI agents operating in cloud-native environments. This approach aims to balance autonomy with safety and reliability.

Google brings agentic AI to Gemini, starting with businesses

Google launched an agentic version of Gemini at its Cloud event, targeting businesses first with an AI that can autonomously plan and execute tasks using internal systems and third-party tools. The agent supports model selection including Anthropic's Claude, connects to Workspace, Slack, Jira, and Git, and operates with its own Workspace identity for audit trails. With 1 billion monthly active users and 90% Fortune 100 adoption, Google aims to solve security and scale challenges before a consumer rollout.

The Missing Piece in Rust Error Handling

Dillon McMahon 6 min read October 6, 2026 Tags rust Rust already has most of what I want from error handling: explicit control flow, errors as values, and concise propagation with ? . The friction comes when deciding what to put in the error half of Result . We often end up choosing between precise types that require boilerplate and convenient types that hide which errors can occur. But precision and convenience do not have to be competing goals. Error types should compose as easily as the functions that return them.
